Obamacare loophole allows veterans to buy guns with food-stamps

With a document as massive as the Obamacare bill was there is no way someone could know every line. Also with a document that massive is the ability for Congressional interns to slip a sentence in as a joke. Which is exactly what appears to have happened. Language that allows combat veterans to buy firearms with food-stamps was slipped in.

Food Stamp

Food stamps

A pair of interns working out of Rep. Steve Smith of Georgia’s 15th district appears to be the center of this. These two have been identified as Loyd Kristmus and Harry Dunne.

The two figured someone would see the passage and delete it before being passed into law. Then watched in mixture of horror and amusement as the bill continued through Congress without anyone seeming to notice it.

The passage states that for veterans who have been in combat gun ownership is very important for psychological help. In addition many veterans are financial hardship, meaning they use food-stamps. Thus they should be allowed to purchase a fire arm with their food-stamps.

Rep. Steve Smith released a statement saying his office did not endorse the actions of the interns. The statement indicated that they have been terminated and his office will make sure their professional lives are ruined.

Rep. Jim Hankle of Arkansas’ 5th district actually agrees with the logic of this fake provision. His office released a statement saying the government needs to do more to support our troops. This measure seems minor but yet something that will benefit so many.

The office of President Obama has yet to respond. The Obama office has been touting the passing of Obamacare as the triumph. The President has also been pushing hard for strict gun control. This provision in Obamacare does seem to conflict with the gun control agenda.
