Dispatch Group warns to expect 911 response delays after GTA5 release this week.

The National Association of Dispatch Specialist has released a statement that people should expect slow response times from some emergency responders this week. The culprit is the latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto video game series.

Candice Fureal the Dispatch association president had this to say. “We know that a lot of our fire and EMS personal play video games when they have some free time. When a major game like this new Grand Theft Auto 5 drops we got all kinds of guys and gals brining their X-Boxes into the firehouses. So we just want to get the word out that response times might be a slight bit slower.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 is a highly anticipated title for both X-Box and Sony Playstation. The developers are promising that GTA5 will be bigger and better than any other game in the Grand Theft Auto series. Various sources are reporting that GTA5 has broken records for most number of video games pre-ordered from retailers.

Fureal explains that she has seen it personally right after a awesome new game comes out. She told us this story. “When the last installment of Call of Duty came out last year I had to radio the same unit twice before they responded. I found out later they were too engrossed in the game and did not hear me initially.”

The dispatch association does not condone the actions of these responders but wants to get the word out to ensure public safety. Candice left us with this thought. “If a person just needs a taxi ride to the hospital maybe for the next few days they should call a taxi. Some guys who hear it is a non emergency run may just wait till they get to a save point before getting into the rig. By the weekend most people will be sick of playing that new Grand Theft Auto game so people can go back to abusing the 911 system as they please.”
