US Cities seeking to outsource policing jobs to China.

A contact inside the US State Department has revealed to CallTheCops that some major US cities are looking at China as a way to save on police budgets. Just as big business has outsourced jobs to China, US police will outsourse (technically Insource) Chinese police to work US Police jobs.

Chinese Police

Our state department source explained it like this. “China has millions of more police officer than they need. US police chiefs are complaining about a lack of qualified police applicants to fill policing jobs. We see a possibility to bring workers here to fill these roles.”

Cost savings it is also a factor into why US Police chiefs would be willing to bring in Chinese cops. “In China these cops make like a $1 a day. We can bring them here and pay them minimum wage and they will be happy to be making so much. Also we are under no obligation to let them into the police union. Thus we do not have to provide insurance, vacation days or other benefits. As a matter of fact these police will not be city employees, they will be freelance contractors. As such there is some debate as to if FLSA applies to them and thus any requirement to actually pay minimum wage or overtime.”

Police chiefs have made it known to the state department that quality officer will only be acceptable. The state department has assured that only police officers who are flaunt in English and with an unblemished service record will be considered.

One police chief from a city someplace in the Midwest was willing to say this only off the record. “Last month I had over 500 applicants for ten open positions. Of that 500 only 372 showed up to take the written test. Of them only 92 passed the written test. Out of that group only 38 came back for the physical fitness test. In the end only 12 passed the fitness test. I have 10 spots open but only 12 people to interview! That is not a hiring pool that is a puddle!”

Many other chief’s echoed this sentiment. They said that Chinese are young, well educated and fit. “These guys will not question working long hours, nights and weekends. I can work them to the point of burn out and then send them back to China for a replacement. No disability, no workers comp, just a new cop, willing and able to work his butt off.”

State Department officials were unsure when the exact date this insourceing program would start. The expectation is for the officers to start sometime soon after New Years.
