In the last few seasons the GreenBay Packers have seen games lost due to a single touch down. In all these cases that touch down difference is due to a bad call from a NFL referee.

Last season in a game against the Seahawks the Packers had an interception call get messed up by a referee. GreenBay Packer player MD Jennings had possession of a ball, but the referee ruled it a touchdown by being in possession of Seahawk Golden Tate.

Then this season when the GreenBay Packers played the San Francisco 49ers an offsetting penalties call gave the 49ers a touchdown on the next play. That off setting penalty call has in the days after the game also been found to have other errors in it.

The city of GreenBay will not stand for bad calls to continue. They have passed a ordnance that will fine NFL referees responsible for the error. The city Police department has made it known that officers will not stop or disrupt NFL games issues these citations.

A press release from the police department describes how if during a game it is found that an NFL referee has made a bad call enforcement action will be taken. Officers close to the sidelines will be issued yellow cards. If police supervisors who are monitoring the game find that a call was later found to be in error they will radio an officer with a yellow card. The officer would approach the official who made the error between plays. The officer will hand the referee a yellow card. The card is an indicator that the referee needs to surrender himself to the police at the end of the game.

At the end of the game the referees who were issued yellow cards are expected to report to the security office at Lambeau Field. Police department officers will then issues the citations. If a referee fails to show at the security office, police officers will be waiting at the undisclosed area hotel where referees stay.

In the event the bad call is identified till after the game the police are prepared to mail the citations to referee.

Fines for the ordnance are very expensive.

First offense is $1,000
Second offense is $3,000
Third and subsequent offenses are $5,000

Both the NFL and the NFL Referee Association have been unable to comment at this time.
