Duluth police office quits because it is so dam cold

Officer Christopher Gross stunned fellow officers when he showed up for shift change in civilian cloths and quit. The rookie Duluth police officer had started in April. By all accounts he was good cop.

Gross walked into the department last night in street cloths carrying a large cardboard box. Inside the box were his department issued uniforms and equipment. Former officer Gross also had a typed letter of resignation.

Originally from Phoenix, Gross is an avid fishermen and hunter. In college he took a trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin with a roommate to fish one summer. On that trip he decided that after graduation he would move up north for work. Christopher interviewed with multiple agencies before he was offered the job at Duluth PD.

“I knew it got cold here, but this is just ridiculous. It has been below freezing everyday for almost a week now. I have to scrape ice off my car windows in the morning. I can’t warm up. I put on extra layers of cloths, turn up the heater, and even drink coffee, but nothing is warming me up. Maybe I am not built for this cold weather crap.”

While his co-workers all report they liked officer Gross, none seem to have any sympathy for his dread of the cold. One officer told us off the record “I don’t know what he is bitching about. This is not cold. I have yet to put on a jacket, long sleeve uniform shirt has been warm enough for me so far. Maybe it is best he left now. Imagine how miserable he would be when it is sub zero and we have a few feet of snow.”

Christopher told us he had a U-haul all packed up and would be driving back home to Phoenix as soon as our interview was done.
