Star Wars day is an unofficial geek holiday chosen due to how close “May The 4th” sounds like “May the Force”. The Force is the mystical power used by the Jedi in the Star Wars saga.

Sgt. Alisha Tano tells CallTheCops that fellow officer tend to give Katarn a hard time for his love of Star Wars. She also felt Officer Katarn was dared to talk like Yoda by his peers.

“Kyle is young and eager to please the veteran cops on shift. They needle him all the time about his geeky side. So I can imagine someone bet him a breakfast in exchange for talking like that little green guy.”

The Yoda voice came to the attention of Sgt. Tano when a civilian called in to complain about their treatment during a traffic stop. Kyle made comments on the stop includeing.

“Speeding was you doing. Slow down you must”

When the driver asked if he would be getting a ticket Kyle said “Difficult to know. Always in motion is the future. Computer I will check, your answer they have.”

Finally after giving the driver a verbal warning, the driver said he would “try to dive safer”. Kyle quickly responded “No. Try not. Do… or do not… there is no try”.

When asked about doing the traffic stop in Yoda voice Kyle admitted it to the Sgt. She then sent him home early. A copy of the dash camera footage was made for the chief. It is not being released to the public yet.

The police chief was not willing to comment on the record citing HR privacy laws.
