Officer Michael Macmillan made a traffic stop on a car last week and after he was sure he would be the subject of a viral video. So far no video has surfaced online and Macmillan is getting very discouraged.

A Traffic Stop
“Not only did that car blow the red light, it looked to be speeding also. So I activated my emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.”
Dash camera footage from Macmillan’s squad car verifies this car ran the red.
“I approached the driver, told him the reason for the stop and then asked to see his operator license. Almost immediately the driver blurts out some comment about Gestapo asking for papers. I then made a joke that an operator license is made of plastic not paper.”
Watching the dash cam footage from Macmillan’s squad car you can hear the officer’s tone of voice is friendly.
“The driver then launches into the tirade about freedom of movement and violation of civil rights by asking for papers. I let him finish then told him that an operator license does nothing to limit freedom of movement. He is always free to walk, bike, ride a horse or be passenger in a car riding to any place he likes. But due to the skill needed to make a car operate safely on a roadway and the likelihood of unsafe operation depriving someone else of their right to life, a license to operate a motor vehicle is required for the privilege to drive. I pointed out I was only asking for his license and not for identification from any of the passengers. I said something about acknowledging their [the passengers] freedom of movement, but due to my observation of a moving violation I needed to verify his [the driver] privilege to operate this machine.”
Reviewing the dash camera footage a voice that is presumed to be a passenger in the car makes statement to the driver. “Just give him your license he obviously knows how the Constitution works and your not going to goad him into a fight.”
Macmillan said it was after that he saw the front passenger had a little GoPro cameras pointed at him. Macmillan asked if he was being recorded. The driver acknowledged that yes they were recording the traffic stop.
A citation for the red light violation was issued and the traffic stop ended with out incident. Macmillan did a search of the name driver’s name and found his YouTube channel. The driver has multiple videos of police contacts where the officers get into arguments with this driver. Macmillan was hoping his video would show up but thus far it has not.
Emails to the account listed on the YouTube Channel have not been returned.
Macmillan said this about the incident. “Seems like we got a guy here who is looking for 15 minutes of fame by baiting police into an argument. I did not take his bait so I guess that video does not go online.”
