Officer pregnant with Police Chief’s “Love Child” will receive workers comp.

A few months ago Officer Andrea McHale was surprised to learn she was pregnant. That surprise came due to two reasons. First she has only been with one man in the last year, her police chief. Secondly because the chief had assured her he had a vasectomy.

Today though McHale is getting a surprise of a different nature. Because it was able to shown that she got pregnant on duty time, she is eligible for workers compensation. Meaning she will not have to use sick time or any other leave time while pregnant or after the child has been born.

Apparently Officer McHale and the police chief had a semi regular lunch date that did not involve eating food. Often times they met at McHale’s apartment. A few times they did meet at the Chief house, if his wife was out of town.

“People knew the chief and I were getting it on. This is a small enough town; you know how the rumor mill works. So when it went public that I was pregnant someone from the union said I should seek workers compensation. I said if the union wants to fight that battle they are welcome to try.”

Sure enough the union issued a memo stating they could show this baby was conceived on duty. At first the chief balked at the union. Then one day he was presented with data from both squad car GPS units. It showed all the times his car and her car were parked near to her apartment or his house.

Now it looks like the chief will be acquiescing. Officer McHale’s doctor had told her she should no longer be on duty. So starting next Monday she will be able to stay at home receiving pay as if this was a work related injury.

“At first I was very embarrassed that my co-workers knew I was sleeping with the boss. But the way they went to bat for me, makes me very proud to have them as friends and shift mates.”

The police chief’s divorce attorney advised us he had no comments and would not be talking to any media outlets.
