Firefighter admits he is uncomfortable with fame as calendar hunk

Firefighter John Stagliano, or Mr. February, in Vividberg fire departments charity calendar today says he regrets ever posing. In the few months the calendar has been for sale he has received nonstop harassment.

There is more to this firefighter than his 6-pack abs!

“There is more to me than the six pack abs, strong arms and an easy smile. I have a Masters degree in Adult Education, I teach Fire/EMS classes as an adjunct at a local community college. Ladies I am a smart, caring human being, NOT some dumb hunk of meat to ogled!”

Chief Ronald Hyatt says the calendar has sold very well. The calendar sold out the first printing and allowed the department to order the complete line of Hust EDraulic rescue tools. But the popularity of a few firemen has lead to a sharp increase in 911 abuses for the city.

“More than a few women have called claiming some emergency hoping one of the cute calendar boys will arrive to save them. Some have even complained when the guy they were hoping for was not on duty. John has been about the most sought after guy. Not sure what the women see in him but what ever it is drives them crazy.”

Firefighter Stagliano says he has had to stop using Facebook, and was forced to get a new cell phone. He received thousands of friend requests in the days after the calendar went on sale.

“At first I did not realize what all these friend requests were. I also never considered that in my profile info I had listed my phone number. It was when I started to get odd phone calls, and random text messages that I knew I had made a mistake.”

While many calls and texts were mostly harmless, there were enough with alarming content to send Firefighter Stagliano to the police. Local officers advised him to get a new number, and set up all the privacy settings on Facebook. In addition John had to take out restraining orders on three people.

The Fire chief tells us that the restraining orders may have stopped calls to John’s cell phone, but they do not limit the calls to the firehouse.

“This one girl, Brandi is her name, calls the none emergency line asking if John is working. Now we know not to answer, but a few weeks ago… well some mistakes were made… she then called 911 and our crew arrived… I guess she then tried to act like that restraining order was now void because John had come to her. Some technicality where he broke the order… So now the judge had to reissue it…”

Overall the fire department and the city are happy with the calendar sale. The mayor said “A few crazy ‘badge bunnies’ will not take away the fact our firefighters now have the latest in rescue tools.” The mayor went on to say that they are still in discussions on if they will do a 2015 calendar.
