Congressmen hire private security to close National Law Enforcement Memorial

Members of congress were enraged to find out that the National Law Enforcement Memorial, located in Judiciary Square in downtown Washington DC was open to the public. The Memorial is funded by private donations, but sits on federal land.

Congressmen Russ Scelus on his way home from the capitol building last night saw people walking with in the memorial reading the names on the walls. Congressmen Scelus started to make calls to find out why the National Law Enforcement Memorial remains open when all other Federal parks have been closed.

The Congressmen was too busy to speak to us but his aid, Joey Gladstone had this to say.

“When the government is closed it is closed. That memorial may be funded and ran by a private charitable organization but it sits on government land. Thus it should be closed.”

When Congressmen Scelus tried to contact Park Police to close the National Law Enforcement Memorial they refused. They pointed out they do not have jurisdiction on that land as it is not a national park land. Other federal law enforcement was contacted and all refused citing jurisdictional issues.

“We got the feeling that these federal cops were hiding behind the technicality of jurisdiction just to piss us off. It was like they wanted that memorial open and would find any excuse to keep it the one bit of federal land still open. But we showed them. Congressmen Scelus and others all pitched in to hire a private security company”

Unknown to the congressmen and his aid the private security company was completely useless. About noon today a group of Philadelphia police along with a group of Milwaukee police both happen to be traveling to the memorial to pay respects to fallen co-workers. Both groups arrived at the memorial with in about two minutes of each other.

None of the officers were willing to go on record about any details. One officer was willing to say this much. “We saw the Philadelphia guys talking to the security guards. So we walked right past. Then the Philly guys started to follow us. The guards were yelling over and over for us all to stop. So we did, when we got to the wall by the name we were there to respect.”

According to this Milwaukee officer when the guard tapped one of them on the shoulder they made it clear to him he should not have touched them. They then explained in the nicest way they could the consequences of continuing to disrespect the memorial and any visitors. “I think that one guard shit his pants. He turned all pale and a nasty stench came out into the air. We told them to run along and they took off.”

We decided not to contact Congressmen Scelus about his guards abandoning post. We feel it better to let him think the memorial is closed so he does not send more rent-a-cops.
