After multiple complaints from the orthodox Jewish community the 3 departments now have protocol ” Stealth mode ” Units are now advised that lights and sirens will no longer be allowed to be used in Jewish neighborhoods from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown and all holy Jewish holidays after multiple rabbi complaints that the lights and sirens interrupted prayer services during these holy times.Instead Fire, Police and EMS units in Nyc are told to use their hazard flashers instead on these important dates. When Nyc’s mayor was asked if this would be passed on to the privates Ambulance’s as well, he stated talks were ongoing to get them in tune with this new rule as well. The only agency not affected by this new rule would be hatzolah, A community based volunteer Ambulance company. A local Hatzolah supporter and rabbi stated it would be unfair to restrict Hatzolah to the same rules as they would be needed in a hurry for a member of the Jewish community got hurt or sick and the regular rules never applied to them anyway.
