Gay Firefighter comes out of closet; co-workers say they knew already

Firefighter Lee Adamson found true love about five years ago. Now that as of March 4, 2014 Illinois recognizes gay marriage Adamson and his partner decided to declare their love in marriage. Problem is before he could get married Adamson would have to tell his brothers at the firehouse he was gay.

So Tuesday night right after watching Chicago Fire as a crew, Firefighter Adamson decided it was time to come out of the closet. “Guys I have something I need to tell you. You’re not going to believe this, but on May 10, I am getting married.” Lee let that sink in a second before dropping what he assumed to be the big bombshell. “I think many of you have met my roommate Zack, well his is actually my boyfriend. I am gay.”

Everyone on the crew looked at Lee with that “tell us something we don’t know” kind of look. Someone even vocalized “took you long enough to tell us”.

Captain Roberts summed it up best by saying, “Lee you have worked here for almost ten years now. In all that time you never had one girl friend. You have been living with this dude Zack for almost five years. We figured this out a long time ago, just wish you trusted us enough to say something sooner”.

Firefighter Craig George had some insights also. “Can you climb the ladder? Can you handle the hose? If I collapse can you pick me up to carry me out? At the end of the day can you do this job? Who cares your skin color, what god you kneel down to, or who you like to date? You passed the academy and earned your spot on this crew, you’re my brother and nothing will change that.”

In the aftermath of the announcement wedding plans have kicked into high gear. Everyone at the firehouse can’t wait for what is promising to be the best party of the year.
